How do I know if I should settle out of my comp claim?

On comp since 1/2019 after a slip and fall that resulted in traumatic annular tear, disc herniation and aggravated preexisting condition. Lumbar fusion, 6 months post op.

The only way to value a case is to know all the facts. So many factors matter in coming up with a settlement number – what is your age, are you on or about to receive Medicare, what are your vocational abilities, how close are you to really stabilizing, what are the expected future conditions or procedures.

It may not be time and you need someone to fight it out for some time. Either way, if you haven’t brought someone on board, if these questions are coming up, now is the time to get help.

Another thing to think about is that if you are already receiving benefits, even if you have some fights coming up or need advice, you may not need to pay the fee right away. Some cases take months or years before a fee is taken if the person is already receiving benefits.

Good luck.
